Posted April 06, 2018 14:33:24The defense that will take down the Gators in Gainesville, Florida, is not going to be the same defense that knocked the Ducks out of the Rose Bowl last year.
It will be the defense that was in the mix, and will be a very different unit than that unit that came in and put together the most dominant defensive performance in college football history against the Heisman Trophy winner.
Not the same unit that went on to lose to Oregon in the Rose Parade.
Not the same team that put together a dominant win over LSU.
It will be different.
A group of seniors and the first-year head coach at Florida Atlantic, Dave Clawson, is going to have to change the mindset of a defense that has been struggling to get better in recent years.
It started in the spring of 2018 when Clawson was the head coach of the Gators.
The Gators’ first game was at Florida A&M and the second was against South Carolina.
Florida had not beaten the Gamecocks since 2013.
The first game against South Africa had been postponed twice because of the death of South African captain and former captain, Rhett Moxey.
The second game was scheduled to take place at the same venue, but the postponement was pushed back because of a medical emergency.
The season opener against Georgia Tech was postponed because of Hurricane Matthew.
That was a huge blow to the Gators’ hopes of advancing.
After that loss to South Carolina, Florida got an early taste of the adversity that would follow, losing two of its final three games to finish the season ranked 10th, 13th and 14th in the nation.
The next season was even worse.
After a dominating win over Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, Florida was ranked 16th, 21st and 24th.
That is not a good look for a team that has never won the SEC title.
The defense had a few big plays in the season opener at Georgia Tech, but they were mostly the result of good reads and timing.
There were no big plays against Alabama in this game, which was the most significant game in the Gators first season.
A lot of the offense was on a roll as the Gators went undefeated, leading the SEC in scoring (26.2 points per game), passing yards (1,814), total offense (2,919), total touchdowns (18) and total defense (2) for the first time in 10 years.
Florida’s offense was a complete disaster that started with the loss of senior quarterback Jameis Winston.
Winston was a key piece in the offense, but he was never able to produce the consistent and consistent performance that he did when he was at the helm of the team in 2016.
Winston, along with senior wide receiver Michael Thomas, were the only players to play in every game of the season.
Thomas and Thomas did so much of the work, but it took all of the Florida offense to produce those wins.
Winston’s struggles at times led to the team’s biggest win of the year, a 34-28 win over the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.
But the defense has had a tough time finding the balance.
Florida has struggled to consistently close the gap on the offense and the defense.
Florida had the best defense in the country against the top scoring team in the South and the SEC West, and it was one of the biggest wins for the team this season.
It was a great performance from the defense, and the team was rewarded for that performance in the national title game.
A year ago, Florida’s defense was the best in the ACC and the nation, but this year it was struggling.
In 2016, Florida led the SEC and ranked third in total defense.
But this season, Florida has ranked dead last in the conference and the country in scoring defense.
Last season, the Gators defense was one-third of the defense in total offense, and three-quarters of the time the defense was able to put up big scores.
This season, that number is about the same.
The Florida defense is struggling to make plays because it lacks the size and physicality to get after the quarterback.
Florida lost the quarterback of the future, Jalen Hurts, to Florida State in free agency.
And then Hurts went down with an injury.
The Gators lost four starters to injuries and it has been difficult to get any of them back.
Florida is also struggling to adjust to the speed of the SEC.
Florida lost a quarterback last season and this year, it lost a running back and a safety.
The defense was playing well, but not enough to overcome the pace of the game.
It has been a major problem for the Gators over the past two seasons.
They lost two starting offensive linemen and a starting running back.
The loss of a starting defensive end, who had been the best defender in the league, is one of many injuries that
