“I’ve been watching this since I was in middle school,” the student told Buzzfeed.
“I was watching it as a little kid because I wanted to see what it looked like when it got real clear.”
“This is really a movie that makes me question my own sanity,” she continued.
“It makes me think how dumb I am.
I’ve always been an avid fan of the movies and a huge fan of [The Office’s] Andy Samberg.
But I just don’t see how this is any more ‘real clear’ than the Office.”
This is not the first time that the film has caused controversy.
In November, it was criticized for using footage of the 2012 Aurora theater shooting as part of its promotional material.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the film’s director, Joel Silver, claimed he made the decision to include footage of Aurora shooting victims because of the film and “a desire to make it clear that the people that were killed at the theater were innocent.”
The film is also accused of perpetuating myths about the military and the military-industrial complex.
“Real ClearDefense” is the fifth film by the filmmakers to have been shown at the New York Film Festival, but it was not screened there due to concerns about violence.
The film was directed by John Miller and stars the likes of Kristen Bell, Kate McKinnon, and Kate Hudson.
Real Clear defense is available on Netflix now.
